Come and meet the experts and join them in discussing he issues that affect children, adults and families of people with cerebral palsy. The Family Forum is designed to encourage an exchange of ideas and questions between professionals and families, A reception will be held at the conclusion of the program. This is event is free but does require pre-registration to attend.

Person Centered Thinking Workshops

This workshop is for Parents, Vendors, and Consumers! Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center, in partnership with the Vendor Leadership Forum, is launching an ongoing Introduction to Person Centered Thinking training program. This four-part session will be hosted by Joe Donofrio from Choicess on a monthly basis, every Wednesday morning. There is a fee for vendors and community members (consumers and families may have fee waived upon request).

Grant Writing Workshop

Access Services and the LA County Consolidated Transportation Services Agency are working in partnership with the California Association of Coordinated Transportation to present this workshop.  Participants will learn how to focus on this grant and contract seeking progress in ways that are efficient, effective, and appropriate to your organizations mission.  

 

May 9 & 10 –

All are welcome to this presentation that will identify the most current methods of providing services to children and adolescents with autism, aspergers syndrome, learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and other developmental disabilities. Keynote Speaker is Eustacia Cutler – author of A Thorn in My Pocket: Temple Grandin’s Mother Tells the Family Story. There will be 4 general sessions and 16 breakout sessions. She will briefly outline the different types of Intensive Behavior Intervention services available in your community. Westside Regional Center is proud to host this morning of information. Join WRC Nurse Consultant, Evelyn Johnson - RN, for this informative Universal Precautions In-Service.  This training will define the meaning of “Universal Precautions” and methods of implementation.  Information regarding the etiology, spread and prevention of Infectious Diseases including AIDS and Hepatitis A, B, & C will be provided. Gain information as to Residential Home Infection Control, Housekeeping and Hygiene Guidelines, as well as acceptable methods of disinfecting to prevent the spread of disease. This is a great opportunity to hear a truly inspiring speaker from Canada, Norma Kunc. Mr. Kunc is an international trainer, consultant and author of “Ready, Willing and Disabled.”  There is a refundable $5.00 fee to register. This conference will focus on issues in Special Education. All interested parents, educators and community members are welcome. The afternoon will feature a breakout session on the California State University Los Angeles Transition Program.

This is a health and benefits training on work and disability.  Learn vital information on how a person enrolled in the 250% Medi-Cal Working Disabled Program can maintain their Medi-Cal and In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) benefits while earning as much as $50,000 per year. This training is open to persons with disabilities and professionals who work with persons with disabilities.  This training is presented by the Personal Assistance Services Council (PASC) in collaboration with the California Health Incentive Improvement Project (CHIP). There will be exhibits, testing products, comparisons and services offered by state of the art exhibitors.  This is a consumer trade show for persons with disabilities, physical and occupational therapists, caregivers, family members and Special Education Teachers.
