This workshop will focus on assisting parents, siblings and other family
members to recognize and meet the needs of older adults with developmental
disabilities. As people with developmental disabilities begin to reach their
40’s and beyond, there are changes in their health, social, financial,
and legal needs and supports. Session I deals specifically with “Living
Well” and will encompass changing health needs and ways to meet them for
your family member. There will also be information available on a variety of
living options. Session II concentrates on issues “Into the Future”
such as estate planning, and other potential personal, financial and community
supports. Session III concentrates on Conservatorship and Guardianship. Cost is $10.00 payable at the first session.

with autism, yet a variety of services are available that all claim to promote
social development. It is very difficult for parents to sort through the sea of
resources in order to choose the format that will be the best fit for their child
and their family. Learn what to look for in a social skills group, in
individual play therapy, and what kinds of other services really can help with
socialization. Parents are encouraged to bring their own concerns about service
planning to this discussion. Presenter is Erika Carpenter, PhD. Registration is

will define the meaning of, “Universal Precautions” and methods of
implementation. We will give information regarding the etiology, spread and
prevention of Infectious Diseases including AIDS and Hepatitis A, B, & C.
Information will be provided as to Residential Home Infection Control with
Housekeeping and Hygiene Guidelines as well as acceptable methods of
disinfecting to prevent spread of disease. Additionally, pamphlets and
information from the Health Department will be available at this session.
