Let’s Talk Self-Advocacy is WRC’s monthly discussion group. Kecia Weller & Linda Butler, WRC’s Coordinators of Self-Advocacy, will be available for clients, families, and service providers to come in and discuss issues of Self-Advocacy. Do you want to learn more about self-advocacy? Want to meet others who can support you in advocating for yourself? Want to get your point across and still get your needs met? OR, you may want to encourage, support or teach others the skill of advocating for themselves? If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, then come to Let’s Talk Self-Advocacy! Bring your questions, bring a friend, bring your ideas and we will listen. This is a free opportunity that will be offered on the third Tuesday of each month throughout this quarter.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Come to this training and learn how to support and work with individuals diagnosed with ADHD. Learn to identify the symptoms of ADHD and how those symptoms manifest themselves as impatience, difficulty in delaying responses, difficulty awaiting one's turn, and frequently interrupting or intruding on others to the point of causing difficulties in social, academic, or occupational settings. Individuals with this disorder typically make comments out of turn, fail to listen to directions, initiate conversation at inappropriate times, interrupt others excessively, touch things they are not supposed to touch, and clown around. Impulsivity may lead to accidents and to engagement in potentially dangerous activities without consideration of possible consequences. Stephanie Young, MFT will be our presenter for this training. WRC welcomes the Center for Health Care Rights to answer your questions and explain the new plan. Topics will include: What are prescription drug discount cards? They will also explain: How will the new Medicare prescription benefit coordinate with my present coverage? CHCR is a non-profit organization that provides free assistance with Medicare questions and problems. There is a minimum requirement for attendance, so please be sure to call and reserve your space.
