NAMI South Bay invites you to attend a monthly support group for parents of children and teens with emotional and psychiatric disabilities. This group is a place to give and get support; share successes and concerns; learn information and resources; cry a little, laugh a little and know that you aren’t alone. The group is co-led by Fran Goldfarb, Healther Martillo and Karen Williams, all parents of children with psychiatric disabilities. There is no charge for the group and no reservations are needed. Any interested parents or caregivers are welcome.

The East Los Angeles Regional Center and Area Board X Self Determination Local Advisory Committee invite you to a Community Meeting regarding Self Directed Services. This meeting will feature Julia Mullen, Deputy Director, California Department of Developmental Services. She will present the latest information regarding the Governor’s proposal for an Independence Plus Waiver for the self-directed service program. This program empowers individual to gain control over decisions and resources required to meet the objectives in the individual program plan. ELARC Executive Director Gloria Wong and Area Board Executive Director Roberta Newton will present an update on the local Self Directed Services (formerly known as Self Determination) pilot project and answer questions regarding local expansion plans.
