California Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Center (MHDDC), a joint project of the UCLA University Affiliated Program (UAP) and the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities. Providing information to Regional Center Staff, Developmental Disability Service Providers, Mental Health Service Providers, and Regional Center Consumers & Families

Federal Interagency Coordinating Council (FICC) provides a useful storehouse of information for parents of children with disabilities, focusing on the efforts of the Federal Interagency Coordinating Council (FICC). The council facilitates federal, state and local activities related to serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, from birth through age 5, who receive services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as well as other federally funded programs such as health care, child care and social services.

Los Angeles County Department of Health Services provides a wealth of health information including the availability of services and state of the art strategies for improving the health of all Angelenos.

Autism Education Network is where you may find information about special education reform.  It's also a site that empowers families and professionals serving the autism community to voice opinions and advocate change.

Best Buddies International headquarters of the program that link volunteers with people with mental retardation

CADartists An organization dedicated to assisting disabled children and young adults express themselves through computer art. Gift shop is available.

Complete Access is an organization that adapts vans and equipment for the disabled and has adapted rental equipment available. They also provide remodeling services to make homes more accessible. Complete Access accepts many private insurances and are awaiting Medicare approval.

Connection for Children - This is a non-profit Child Care Resource and Referral agency serving child care providers, educators, and parents in the West Los Angeles and South communities. Connections For Children has linked children's advocates, service providers, and parents about issues affecting children and families for over 25 years.

Down syndrome - NDSS works every day to increase public awareness about Down syndrome and discover its underlying causes through research, education and advocacy.

Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles - The DSALA is here to enhance the welfare of people with Down Syndrome and their families through the development and promotion of education, counseling, employment and recreational programs and to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of Down Syndrome.

The Sibling Support Project is a national program dedicated to the interests of brothers and sisters of people with special health and developmental needs. The project is based at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

SpecialKidsLA is a website that provides information to parents of special needs children in the Los Angeles Area. Information is provided about some early start programs. There is also information about the IEP process. A calendar of events, a monthly email newsletter and a news section of current special needs articles is also available.

TAP (The Autism Perspective) is a magazine site about options.  TAP will educate its readership.  It provides balanced information on the myriad of therapies and treatments for the vast and complicated realm of autism spectrum disorders, recognizing that effective therapies are equally as complex.  This is a site where voices can heard, where stories can be shared.

The University Affiliated Program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA UAP) has two web sites which are of interest to the Development Disability community:California Developmental Disabilities Network andWomen with Developmental Disabilities- The first has an extensive database of resources in California and includes a search program for specific types and locations of services.

UCLA/Orthopaedic Hospital - The UCLA/Orthopaedic Hospital Center for Cerebral Palsy is dedicated to improving function in children and adults with cerebral palsy through a program of timely diagnosis, comprehensive assessment and individulized treatment.

UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatment - The central theme of the UCLA Center involves understanding the origins of social, communicative, and language deficits demonstrated by individuals with autism. A second theme is a focus on the design and testing of experimental treatment interventions.
