Education Advocacy

The Education Advocacy Unit at Westside Regional Center provides information, training and support to families, schools and school districts throughout our service area. Families with school age children can participate in ongoing Westside Regional Center workshops regarding Special Education Rights and Responsibilities or they can meet with an advocate on an individual basis to discuss issues pertinent to their child's educational needs. Our advocates are also available to accompany families to the IEP meetings.

The Education Advocacy Unit also provides in-service training on the identified educational issues and/or topics of concern at the student's school of attendance. As liaisons between Westside Regional Center, our families and the ten different school districts in our service area, it is our goal to help build collaborative, successful relationships that will enhance each student’s educational opportunities.
