Educational Information

Children with developmental disabilities are eligible for educational services from their local school districts from the age of 3 until their 22nd birthday. These services can include: special education classes, speech therapy, adaptive physical education, occupational and physical therapy, social integration, mental health services, behavior consultations and inclusion facilitation. After you request services from your local school district, an assessment will be scheduled. Upon completion of your child’s assessment, an Individual Education Planning (IEP) meeting will held. Westside Regional Center counselors can assist families by providing information, guidance, and advocacy throughout the process. Your WRC counselor is available to attend IEP meetings with sufficient notice.

When families need additional help, a referral can be made to the Westside Regional Center’s Education Advocacy Unit.
